You really shouldn't go to exhibits where you can petbigcats. They're NOT supposed to be just like larger housecats. It's inherently abusive to have them in constant contact w humans. I highly recommend BigCatRescue in Tampa as an excellent sanctuary. https://bigcatrescue.org/cubs/
(This is actually a great place called BigCatRescue in Tampa, where they have more space to roam than it looks in this shot. They save and rehab a lot of bigcats in bad situations as pets or in circuses and they are wonderful.)
I'm always supportive of my local area animal shelter (where my pets came from!), but I also like Animal Defenders International for their work freeing circus tigers and BigCatRescue in Tampa, FL for their work rehabilitating and/or rescuing everything from ligers to kittens!
if y'all stop in or around tampa florida over summer vacation and you wanna see some bigcats, please go visit BigCatRescue. they're a non profit rescue that humanely houses exotic cats that previously were in circuses, owned as pets, etc. pic.twitter.com/itcIjPA1wC
